September Sweetness

September is a FANTASTIC month, because it kicks off the snowball of awesomeness that is The Holidays!

September My Birthday; October Halloween; November Thanksgiving; December Christmas and New Year’s Eve; January Ben Franklin & Martin Luther King Jr’s Bodacious Bdays; February Valentine’s Day….It’s the most glorious half of the year! Weeeee!

But September is also always a dizzyingly busy month for me, and this one is looking like it’s going to follow suit with its predecessors.

I mean, it’s my birthday AND the Bunny’s birthday, my bestie’s bridal shower, my daddio and my stepmama are coming to visit [TODAY! and holy sh*t, they’re going to meet the Bunny! ::cue dramatic music::], Dexter returns (!), I have a ton of gigs and shows plus writing work and princessing to do, and and and and….! It’s going to be a good month. :)

It’s only been a few days into the month and I’ve already gone rock climbing with SS:

Done a little shimmy-shakin’ burlesque:

[thanks, Maia, for the photos! <3]

Hung out with some dapper gentlemen:

Spent an entire day off with my love:

Swoon. <3

Went to the Medieval Times End of Summer BBQ:

Obviously, I sat at the Cool Kids’ table. ;)

Worked on costumes:

And it hasn’t even been a week yet! Wee!

\

Busy, busy!

But anyway, I think September should start fall weather, don’t you? It’s my favorite kind of weather. Even though I live in Florida and it doesn’t start to feel like fall weather until, oh, November, I still get really romantic about “the idea” of fall weather. I want to start wearing scarves and drinking/eating everything infused with pumpkin & spice, cuddling up in front of the fire and sipping hot chocolate with my love, taking long walks in the crisp weather with clear night skies and wear lots of layers.

Instead, I’m still sweating my ass off when I walk to Starbucks wearing cut-off shorts and a tank top, where I drink an iced green tea that is dripping sweat itself, and the reality of wearing a scarf means I’ll have to stay indoors with the AC on full blast if I’m going to escape heat stroke.

But that’s okay! Because September at least starts cooler weather…at night. Or some nights. Not tonight. It’s still muggy as hell-o. [I kinda lost my point here.] But cool weather is on the horizon! It’s a’ coming, people!

Now I’m off to watch The Shining and cat-sit SS’s kitties. :)

Hope your September is treating you like a darling, darlings!

Happy Monday!

It’s the start of a new week…what are you going to do with it??

[Do whatever you want, I say!]

I hung out with my mom yesterday so I’m feeling a bit rejuvenated [plus I got to do some laundry…hooray!]. She’s such a BAMF. I love hanging out with her. We talked about religion, love, Qigong, cats (naturally), relationships and all the general catching up stuff. [It still feels EPICALLY AWESOME to not censor myself with the Ivy stuff and my burlesque/go-go life. You guys, it’s so good. WHY DIDN’T I TELL HER EARLIER?! Still kicking myself.]

But ANYWAYYYYY, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Sunday. It’s like getting to hang out with your best friend who is also your mom and can tell you things like, “You were such a good baby! You never cried or screamed, unless you had a good reason.” (Which, I pointed out, is still how I am today. ;)

[side-note: I’m sitting in Starbucks right now and this guy is next to me in a suit who’s all like, “Eyyyy I’m the cool business guy, and I think I’m the Fonz, and eyyy gonna point at you with a snap and hit on the barista girl because I’m the cool guy!”

Just answered his cell phone and said, “Heyyyyy Jimmayyy, my man! What’s going on, brothah?!……..Jimmy? Hey, Jimbo…hello? You there? ::checks phone:: hello?…uh, okay, cool, call me back bro!”

Everyone felt awkward.

End side-note.]

In other news, the Bunny has been running her little fluffy bunny booty off training and preparing for the new soccer football season, so not only does she have some wicked new tan lines, she’s also been a total zombie (a totally sexy zombie). Training in the AM, followed by more training in the afternoon, followed by a training sesh in the evening has left her exhausted.

My time with her the past month has basically been me creepily watching her while she sleeps in between training sessions, because that’s the only time I get to hang out with her. [And then the cats sleep, too, in solidarity (or because they’re cats and they sleep 21 hours a day) so I’m left all alone! Sad trombones.]

But the season is starting and that means training only once a day! Hooray! Her team has already played two matches “that count” (whatever that means) and they kicked ass both times. Go Knights! My bestie Victor and I took a mini road trip down to Tampa to watch her do her thing against USF (I made him call into work. SUCH a bad influence!), and we had just the best time ever. And luckily there were some serious soccer moms sitting behind us, so we had a decent narration of what the hell was going on, play-by-play.

The Bunny has a home game this Friday, and guess who’s coming to watch?? MY MOM! Along with my step dad, Nolan [a.k.a. Ned Flanders]. They’re coming over to hang out with the cats, and then going to hang out with me so I don’t look like such a stalker creep sitting by myself, watching my lady play. Everyone is happy! (Why do I have a feeling now there’s going to be a million people there, just to hang out with my mom….?)

Anyhoodle, in between hanging out with my mom and wondering if my girlfriend is going to keep wanting to go to sleep at 8 p.m. every night [my usual bedtime is 3 in the morning…], life has been Medium on the scale of EXCITEMENT. On the one paw, I’ve been doing a lot of normal-people things, like cleaning, working, and grocery shopping (which is actually super fun because now every time I open my fridge, I feel like a king. TIME TO FEAST!). On the other paw, I’ve been starting businesses and dancing with weird, ghosties of myself.

Can’t complain! Life is good!

I hope you all grab this week by the balls and make it your bitch! ;) Orrrr grab this week by its unicorn horn, and ride it to freedom! Orrrr grab this week by the hand and have a lovely stroll around a lake with some tea, and maybe a bit of a fondle under a tree later…!

Whatever you decide, have a good one, get laid, and be productive!

Hips • Lips • Tits • and Hair Flips

The days leading up to Pensacola Pride were explosions of costume making, rehearsals, work, kitten loving, working out, stretching, go-go at Rev…

…hanging with my mom, tying up loose ends, trying to figure out my financial sitch, maybe kinda sorta not really sleeping, and possibly best of all, GETTING MY AC FIXED IN MY CAR YAY YAY YAY!

So with Dirty Diana in tip-tip shape, all my costumes made, my CD burned, and my bags packed, it was time for:

IT WAS INSANE!!!!

Here are some highlights from the trip:

First, an epic road trip with the Bunny and one of my favorite people in the entire world, Lanie (a.k.a.) Lollie! She lives in L.A. now, and is kicking ass and taking names out there. The girl is a hurricane of motion, good vibes, and good times. She’s known me so long that she was at my actual very first audition as Ivy! This girl has watched me grow up, and somehow I got lucky enough to make an impression on her so even though she travels the world, she manages to keep in touch.

Finally getting the chance to catch up with her was well-worth the totally numb ass and truck stop bathrooms. ;)

We got to Pensacola and hit the ground running! Straight to rehearsals and a meeting at Spikey’s mom’s house with the cast, then to our hotel room (the Bunny, me & Lollie stayed at the hotel while the rest of the cast stayed at Spikey’s mom’s. We’re not anti-social; we just don’t want to sleep on air mattresses. ;) Plus, I’m allergic to dogs (sad trombones!), and along with a real bed, I like to be able to breathe and not have hives.)

We unpacked, and then got all dolled up and ready for ROUND 1 of Pensacola Pride at Flounder’s!

^ This was my first outfit for the event! SO GAY! [the Bunny made that button bra! cute, huh??]

Confession: On the way to Flounder’s, I totally got nervous! My heart was racing and adrenaline was pumping. I love Pensacola Pride so much, and I look forward to it every year, so the excitement was overwhelming! My nervousness isn’t insecurity - it’s more like how a unicorn gets excited when it majestically leaps over a canyon to save kittens. It’s an indescribable feeling. The energy is just electric!

So finally stepping on to the stage and doing my first hair flip…OH! It felt GLORIOUS! The sea of thousands of lesbians! The music! The energy! Me and Lollie on stage again together for the first time in years! The fabulous other entertainers, doin’ their thang! It was amazing, and this was just the first five minutes!

I even danced to some dubstep in my number with my Dub Step pasties! ;)

Such a blast! The first night was a total sweaty, sandy success! [and HIGHLIGHT: Several people in the crowd told me they love my blog! OMG! Such a huge compliment!]

The next day, the Bunny, me, and Lollie were instructed by Spikey that we would be meeting the cast at noon to go to the beach.

Well, deep down in my heart, I KNEW that Spikey wouldn’t be ready to go at noon. [because in the five years I’ve been doing Pensacola Pride, she has never once been ready to go at noon!]

But our trio still got our exhausted bums up at the crack of 11 a.m. I texted Vita half an hour before noon to see when they were leaving Spikey’s mom’s house, and got back a simple, sleepy, “Not yet.” haha

But the Bunny, Lollie, and I were all about Carpe Diem-ing, so we got ready, grabbed some Starbucks, and made our way out anyway! The crew didn’t show up for THREE HOURS, my car overheated, we saw a swamp monster, we walked the beaches for(EVER), and ended up meeting the crew (eventually) for a bit of a parade. All in all, a ridiculously good Saturday afternoon.

Back to the “apartment” (a.k.a.) our hotel room to shower and get ready for ROUND 2 of shows!

^^ I felt like a lesbian superhero in this outfit! Isn’t it HOT?! This was definitely one of my favorite looks the entire weekend.

Ready for Round 2, we headed back to Flounder’s for some sweaty, intense go-go dancing, a sick show, and so much ridiculous fun, I can’t even tell you. If you weren’t there, you’ll just never understand. [Lucky for you, there’s always next year!]

Costume change! ;)

^this guy kept us safe all weekend!

Round 2: check! Hours later, and we crawled back to our hotel…after discovering the Ihop we wanted was closed. Damn you, Pensacola! Everything delicious should be available 24 hours! [HANGRY!]

But luckily for everyone, brunch was on the horizon. The next morning, we welcomed Sunday by meeting up with two of my favorites, Jordan and Kacee (who were participating in the Pride festivities), for a delicious brunch at the Five Sisters Blues Café!

Mmmmm sweet potato fries! NOM! [and nom. and nom. and are you going to finish that? nom.]

Then we were off again, our leisurely morning giving way to the manic panic of the last day of Pensacola Pride. Onward to Spikey’s mom’s house for rehearsal, and then back to the hotel to get ready for ROUND 3, the finale! The last night of Pride!

We went all out for the last night!

Hello, beautiful cast!

Oh, hellooooo, Lollie!

dance dance dance dance sweat sweat sweat sweat

At the end of the night, we packed up, covered in sweat, dirt, sand, make-up, and went back to the hotel for the last time. Vita came and crashed with me, Lollie & the Bunny, so we watched reruns of Angel, chick-chatted, and finally started to wind down from the insanity that is Pensacola Pride.

After a bit of sleep, we got up, checked out, and went to Starbucks for one final hang sesh with Kacee, Jordan, Lollie, Vita, me and the Bunny.

As per the sign, we ended up talking about the weekend, breakfast, relationships, and sex toys. ;) A fantastic send off before our long-ass road trip home!

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

And there you have it, folks! One helluva weekend, with illustrations. It hardly does the party justice [thousands of gay boys & girls, beaches all day, party all night, amazing musicians, sick DJs, and girls, girls, girls!], so next year I hope to see all of your faces there!

I left this year with a million inside jokes, show bruises, and several hundred new friends. :) I got my wish: best Pensacola Pride yet!

Stay tuned for my recap of Gay Days & what life is like as the best 25-year-old flower girl in the history of EVER!

Till then…

What did YOU do on your Saturday night?

Well, for me…

I was asked to perform with an incredible group of girls at a private party for the grand opening of Pop City Comics’ new store on International Drive. We got our nerdy on.

I, of course, opted for my Poison Ivy number.

And these were our nerdy Burlesque AllStars!

From Left: Vita DeVoid as Mystique from X-Men. Yours truly as Poison Ivy. Gams Dee Vyne as Captain America, Tayeh Moore as The White Rabbit from The Dark Knight, Red Haute as Nurse Betty, and Kissa von Addams as The Penguin from Batman.

We had a blast playing around in the dressing room beforehand, and then it was SHOWTIME!

and just for fun! wiggle wiggle

I opened the show and then hosted. From here.

And there. [{Giving nerdy boys & girls heart attacks. ;)}]

The show was incredible - cheers to our gorgeous line-up as we take our bow!

*all photos of myself & the ladies [aside from the two camera phone photos at the opening of this post] were taken by the fantastic Russ Watkins of RW Photographics. He’s rad.

After this show, I had to haul my flowery ass across town to Revolution.

Get out of my leafy lingerie.

Get rid of the Poison Ivy face.

And get into my dominatrix-dubstep look for our Les Vixen show!

Then I danced the night away!

Got covered in dollar bills. [hooray!]

And finally made it home.

Only to have to be a super hero once again, and kill a cockroach as the Bunny screamed.

All in all, it was a wonderful Saturday. But for me, just business as usual. ;)
