You guys…
the Bunny and I went to my mom and my stepdad’s last week for our early birthday celebration because my mom and my stepdad are going on an epic trip of epic proportions to Poland and they’ll be off adventuring when the Bun & I turn a year older. So we got together, along with my brother and Hey Kitty, to have a fancy dinner, open presents, and eat cake. Lots of cake.

You guys…
my parents. are. RIDICULOUS.
First, they got the Bunny like, $100 in gas cards, a super sweet Razor scooter (she really wanted one) that my mom did about 12 hours of research on to find THE BEST one [“for serious tricking”], a book of shadows/diary she’s been dying for, and some clothes. My brother got her a gas card, too, and a hilarious card. Quite the haul!

But then…
you guys.
I opened my presents.
And guess what my parents got me?! JUST GUESS BECAUSE I COULDN’T. It was just…inconceivable!

You guys…
my parents got me a mother fucking 15 INCH MAC BOOK PRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

::HEAD EXPLODES::

^this is how I felt!
I’ve had my current MacBook for 5 years, and it. is. dying. A slow, painful death that makes working on it infuriating. Simply switching from a Word document to an already open browser means my computer will freeze up, pinwheel of death me for a few minutes, and then either crash the browser or forever freeze my Word document until I have to just shut down.

As a writer, my computer is my bread and butter. It’s my instrument, my tool, my only way to craft my work (because my handwriting looks like a 5-year-old’s hopped up on Pixie Sticks)…and I have loved it dearly. But 5 years in the world of technology means my computer is pretty much obsolete, and every update from my Internet browser or iTunes or program means that my computer is having a harder and harder time keeping up. It’s just the reality of technology.

I’ve started putting money away for a MacBook Pro, but with three mouths to feed along with my own, rent, bills, and supporting an (amazing) mini-family, I’ve had a really hard time finding extra cash to go toward a new computer. I thought maybe by November or December I might be able to invest in a refurbished one.
So imagine my utter shock and surprise when I opened up the box and saw this beast:

I literally jumped back, shouted “SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!” and then started to cry. Like a baby.
The thing is, my parents didn’t even know how bad things were getting with my current computer. So once I started telling them just HOW MUCH this means to me (you know, in between sobs and blowing my nose…so attractive), they high-fived each other. hah!
My brother said the best part [after seeing MY reaction] was seeing my mom’s reaction. You see, growing up the way we did, when we were literally one paycheck away from being homeless, I know this has to be an amazing feeling for my mom that she was able to do something this huge for me. It makes me want to start crying all over again.
The fact that they went all out and bought me this computer…I’m in shock.
I told my stepdad and my mom that this covers Christmas, and hell, my birthday and Christmas next year, too! My mom was so cute; she kept fist pumping the air like she won something awesome and was grinning ear to ear!
I was still shaking like a leaf and emotionally exhausted by the time we got home and opened up my new baby, The Return of the Mac (is his name).
And oh, dear baby Jesus this thing is SEXY!!!!!!!!

I couldn’t be happier or more in shock (still). Just opening up a webpage [and having it open up immediately instead of 4 and a half minutes later] is glorious!!

Thank you so much, Mom & Nolan!!!!!!
